Beneath the southern
slopes of Sagarmatha (Mount Everest) lies the rugged
and remote land of the Sherpas. Incredibly shaped mountains
whose ice-capped summits rise sharply above sheer rock
walls and tower above stone-walled fields and villages.
Famous by their close association with mountaineering
history and exploration, these are just part of this
high altitude tour. You will pass ancient Buddhist monasteries,
steeped in tradition, draped in prayer flags, and surrounded
by the Himalaya’s most impressive peaks.

| We
start our trek from Lukla. This is a fantastic trek
visiting all of the high valleys of the Khumbu with
extra time at Gokyo to explore the upper valley and
its splendid lakes. From our camp at Gorakshep we ascend
to Kalapattar (5545m) for more spectacular views of
the surrounding mountains including the black rocky
ramparts of Everest’s southwest face.
Our return journey takes us to Tengboche Monastery,
the most important centre of Buddhism in the area, before
descending to Lukla and flying back to Kathmandu the
next day. This trip is the star and finish of dreams
and inspiration, and is truly the pinnacle of any alpine
hiker’s checklist.
