How
Fit Do I Need To Be? |
Each trip is graded
according to the following scale -
Easy
- These trips can be enjoyed by anyone who
leads a reasonably active life. The walking part of
these trips are relatively easy and should not exceed
5 to 6 hours a day.
 Moderate
- These trips are a mixture of some longer and shorter
walks. During these trips, hill walking experience is
desireable. The walking hours are usually no more than
7 hours a day. Please note that some of our non-trekking
trips are graded 'moderate' due to altitude or other
conditions that require a higher level of stamina than
our easy trips.
  Challenging
- The day stages on these trips are a combination with
strenuous and moderate walks - normally 6 - 8 hours
a day. Participants should expect to trek above 4,500
meters on these trips.
   Mountaineering
- These trips are known to be the most strenuous and
regarded as genuine adventure. An experience of mountaineering
with the capabilities of carrying on normally at an
altitude of 4,000 - 5,000 meters and a degree of good
stamina is important. Daily walking is typically never
more than 8 hours.
When to Go ?
Mid September to November
This is an ideal time to visit high altitudes - the
days are warm, evenings cool and the skies are clear
after the monsoon season.
December to February
Days are crisp and cool at high altitudes, but lower
altitudes enjoy pleasant temperatures.
March to Late May
Perfect for all altitudes, the days are warm and famous
giant rhododendrons are in bloom. Cloud cover may move
in during afternoons as the monsoon season approaches.
June to Early September
Monsoon Season - Heavy rains preclude much of Nepal,
but permit good trekking in the rain-shadow areas of
the country such as Mustang, Dolpo and Manaslu as well
as in the Indian, Tibetan and Bhutan regions. |
