Land of Thunder
Dragon - Onsurpassed in its Scenic Beauty And
Vibrant Culture |
Bhutan, often revered as the “Land of Thunder
Dragon” is still regarded as one of the last “Shangri
Las” in the Himalayan region because of its remoteness,
its spectacular mountain terrain, varied flora and fauna
and its unique ancient Buddhist monasteries. The Kingdom,
unsurpassed in its scenic beauty and vibrant culture,
was a favorite place of Guru Padma Sambhava - the second
Buddha. To follow his trail and visit places of his
sojourn is a dream holiday of a lifetime. You will experience
and share with the people of Bhutan this unique living
culture and tradition, kept alive by annual festivals
(Tsechu) allover Bhutan.
This is one of the few countries in the world still
untouched by western influence, a paradise for tourists
interested in Buddhist culture and philosophy, flora
and fauna, trekking and mountaineering. Due to the Royal
Government’s policy of controlled selective tourism,
Bhutan receives less than 5,000 tourists annually.
Bhutan is a purely Buddhist Himalayan Kingdom, unsurpassed
in its scenic majesty and vibrant culture. The Kingdom
shares with Nepal the world’s greatest concentration
of mountains and a living heritage of Buddhism. The
50-minute flight from Kathmandu to Paro can truly be
described as a flight into fantasy. During the flight,
a first hand, close-up view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Kanchenjunga
and other famous peaks become reality.
